Mrs. Melda E. Ankney Crownover, 77, Clear Springs Farm, Homer City R.D. 2, died Wednesday in Indiana Hospital.

Born Aug. 8, 1886, in Pleasant Unity. Daughter of late Christley C. and Margaret Geeting Ankney. Retired school teacher. Began career in Derry Twp. in 1904. Taught there for 10 years. Taught in Monessen schools until 1917 and then in Webster, Pa. until 1919.

Married Charles F. Crownover, 1919. Taught 9 years in Washington County before her retirement in 1951. Member Homer City Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survived by husband, Charles; daughter, Margaret M., at home; brother, Charles W. Ankney, Ligonier; sister, Mrs. Zula Ankney Cose, Blairsville R.D. 2.

Friends received Richard Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, after 7 p.m. today and from 3 to 10 p.m. Friday. Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Frank G. Pollock. Interment Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ligonier.
