Galen Dean Harries, 65, of Hermitage, Missouri, died Wednesday, January 10, 1996. He was born in Havensville, the son of Dean Sherman and Marie E llen Kent Harries. He remained in the Havensville during his boyhood years and later served as a Marine in the Korean War. Mr. Harries started his career in the automobile business in the Tulsa, Okla., and Kansas Ci ty area. He relocated to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1969 and purchased the Plymouth franchise. In 1977 Mr. Harries became a partner in the Nissan franchise in Cedar Rapids and served as president of the Cedar Rapids Auto Dealer Association. He also owned and operated a hunting and gam preserve and had an interest in a North Carolina manufacturing company. Because of ill health, he retired in 1981 and moved to Lakeview Lodge in Hermitage, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and a son. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and five grandchildren. Services were Sunday, January 14, in Wheatland, Mo. with graveside services January 15 at the Bucks Grove cemetery. He was buried at Buck's Grove Cemetery, Jackson County, Kansas.
