Barzillai Hendrickson was born on 29. Mar. 1844 at Tinton Falls, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He was the son of
Pierson Grover Hendrickson and
Sarah Van Dorn. Barzillai Hendrickson married

Barzillai enlisted as a corporal in the civil war (9 month enlistment) on 28 Sep 1862 in the 29th Regiment, New Jersey Volunteer Infantry. This Regiment was organized in Freehold, NJ. Wm. R. Taylor was COL, commanding Regiment. He participated in the battles of Fredericksburg, VA (13 Dec 1862), and at Chancellorville, VA (14 May 1863). On 30 June 1863, he was honerably discharged at Freehold by reason of expiration of term. His business activities included the operation of a grist mill and saw mill at Tinton Falls, NJ. Also, he operated a feed business at Colts Neck, NJ. Later he became interested in farming in West Freehold, NJ. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church at Tinton Falls, the Presbyterian Church at Redbank, and the Dutch Reform Church of Colts Neck and Freehold. At the time of his death he resided at 89 East Main St, Freehold, NJ, where his daughters, Lida B. and Mary (May) continued to live until their own deaths. In Jul. 1890. Barzillai Hendrickson died on 20. Aug. 1912 at Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey, at age 68. He was buried c 21. Aug. 1912 at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey.
