Funeral services were held Friday afternoon and burial was in the East Hill Cemetery.”. She was buried at East Hill Cemetery, Erie, Neosho County, Kansas.

“Glen W. Hobson, 62, a resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan, died at 11:30 p. m., Friday, December 31, 1971 in Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Death was attributed to a heart attack. He had been in failing health for the past three years and     retired from work because of his health.

He was born July 20, 1909 on a farm southwest of Erie, Kansas, the son of Clarence W. and Britta Hobson. He graduated from Erie High School in 1927 and also graduated from the Santa Fe Telegraph School in Topeka.

Hobson and Miss Louella Fennell of Mount Pleasant, Michigan were married in 1932. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Larry Hobson, of Kalamazoo; two daughters, Mrs.Bonnie Moren of Vicksburg, Michigan, and Cindy Hobson of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ira (Gladys) White and Mrs. Nina Long, both of Erie.

Funeral services were held at the Langland Funeral Home in Kalamazoo, Michigan on January 4, 1972. On 1. Jan. 1972.

In October 1866 he, in the company of his father-in-law (Spencer Moody) and his two sons (Zadock and Andrew Jackson) came to Kansas in wagons, landing in Osage Mission (St. Paul) when there was only two stores there, William Brothers and Fosters Store. They located their claims (purchased from the U. S. Government for $250.00 per 160 acres) on the prairie but went to live on the Neosho River in the timber where there was material to build houses, and water. Mr. Hobson is the only one of the party now here (1883). (Zadock, A. J. and Spencer Moody all moved over into Crawford County. J. J. Smart had moved up toward Stark.) Mr. Hobson married Miss Moody in 1865. They have two girls and three boys. He was Justice of the Peace in 1873 and has also served on the school board.”.
