Naomi Johnson was born at New Jersey. She was the daughter of
William Johnson and
Elizabeth Longstreet. Naomi Johnson married
Andrew Phillips, son of
(Unknown) Phillips. Naomi Johnson married
Isaac Winner, son of
John Winner, on 27. Oct. 1804 at Monmouth County, New Jersey. Naomi Johnson married
Aaron Bennett at Monmouth County, New Jersey. Naomi Johnson married
Walter Kerr on 4. Oct. 1836 at Monmouth County, New Jersey. Jeff Meyer and Kerry Petersen provided most of the original documentation I have used to support this theory. The records regarding Naomi below do not specify her maiden name, except her death record. I am not certain they all refer to the same Naomi, but I believe they do.
Marriage 1: From the LDS Ancestral file:
Obediah H. Phillips, born Sep 1800 in Monmouth, NJ, son of Andrew Phillips and Naomi, died Died: 19 Dec 1885 Place: Berkeley, Ocean, New Jersey. [He is listed in the 1850 census of Dover Twp., Ocean (was Monmouth), NJ., living near William and Richard Phillips]
MARRIAGE 2:
County of Monmouth Archives and Records Center, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan, NJ 07726, 732-308-3771, Marriage Returns Box A2h: "This is to certify that Isaac Winner and Neomi Philups was lawfully joined together in matramony on the 27th day of October before a comptiant number of witneses by me - Daniel Stouts one of the Justices of the Peace in the township of Dover in the county of Monmouth. Witness my hand this 27th Day of October 1804. Daniel Stouts, Justice." Note Daniel Stout lived in village of Goodluck which is close to Waretown and Forked River. [I am presuming Phillips was the surname of her first husband, not her maiden name. I have no documentation of her first marriage, but see the deed, her father's will and the 1830 census below.]
Deed:
Monmouth County Archives; Deed between Isaac Winner [Naomi's secoond husband] selling his land in Toms River 16 Oct 1819 to William Phillips [probable relation to his wife? My comment: a son of Naomi by her first marriage?].
Marriage 3:
Rootsweb tree of Bill Abrams: Aaron Bennett, born 8/27/1750, died 12/5/1834 in Tom's River, Ocean, NJ. He married Margaret. No other spouses listed. See 1830 census below.
Marriage 4:
Walter KERR married Naomi BENNETT in Monmouth Co. on October 4, 1836. This info was gotten from Walter's Rev. War pension info. [I am presuming Isaac Winner died sometime between 1819 and 1830 which I have not verified]
Obituary:
At the NJ State Archives I also found a nice tidbit in the OCEAN EMBLEM newspaper of Ocean Co., NJ; Feb. 2, 1854; page 2:
DIED
Near this Village on Saturday evening Neaomi CARR, aged 87 years. She had been married four times and survived all her husbands.
Death record:
Her death record at the NJ State Archives lists her parents as William & Elizabeth JOHNSON. She died January 29, 1854 in Dover, Ocean Co., NJ. The death record for Naomi conflicts with the obit. It states she was 80 at the time of death; residing in Dover Twp, Ocean Co., NJ.
Pension application:
Walter's Rev. War pension record has her age at 85 in 1853; and a resident of Toms River. It also says that Walter died in 1846 at Toms River.

From New Jersey in 1793:
Men enrolled in the Malitia in Dover Twp-
Thomas Phillips
Joseph Phillips
Samuel Phillips
Richard Phillips
Andrew Phillips
George Johnston
William Johnston
Benjamin Johnston
Aaron Bennett
Isaac Winner
James Irons
John Irons
These are all of the men of these surnames for this township
Reuben Haines had a store near Toms River. His account book for 1816-1822 (mostly 1816-1818)
was abstracted in the Genealogical Magazine of NJ. Among the names listed werre:
Aron Bennett [later husband of Naomi?
Moses Bennett [son of Aaron]
Garrett Irons [1st cousin of Naomi]
Ezekial Johnson
Jacob Johnson
Joel Johnson [brother of Naomi]
Jonathan Johnson [brother of Naomi]
Joseph Johnson [possible brother of Naomi]
Joshua Johnson
Samuel Johnson (& daughter) [possible brother of Naomi]
Richard Phillips
Samuel Phillips
William Phillips [son of Andrew and Naomi]
Mr. Winner [Isaac or Jonathan]
Mrs. Winner
Except for the Irons, I have listed all those of a given surname. Andrew Phillips is not listed.
That does not prove he was dead, but it is likely. The only Bennetts listed are Aaron and
his son, Moses. That makes it seem likely that he was the 3rd husband of Naomi (see 1830 census below)
1830 census of Dover Twp, Monmouth (now Ocean), NJ, page 379.:
Bennett, Aaron - possible husband of Naomi, born between 1750-1760, wife born between 1771-1780
(This wife is too young to have been the mother of Moses Bennett, born in 1782)
Bennett, Samuel - probable son of Aaron
Irons, Garret - 1st cousin of Naomi Johnson
Irons, James A. - son of Garret
Irons, Longstreet - son of Garret
Johnston, Joseph, age 40-50, possibly Naomi's brother
Phillips, Richard, age 40 - 50, possible son of Naomi & Andrew Phillips (born in 1790 from 1850 census]
Winner, George K[ing], age 20 - 30 [born abt 15 Aug 1807 in Tom's River -From Kerry Petersen], [possible son of Naomi Johnson & Isaac Winner]
1840 census of Upper Freehold., Monmouth Co., NJ
James J. Johnson, 3 males 5-10, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 50-60 [possibly Naomi's brother, James, next door]
Walter Karr, 1 male age 80-90, 1 female age 70-80
We have not yet found Naomi Kerr/Karr in the 1850 census.
1850 Census of Perry, Brown, OH
Isaac Winner, age 48, born NJ, and his family were living next to Thomas Ashton [son of Naomi's sister, Hannah] and his family. It seems likely Isaac was the son of Jonathan Winner and Sarah Predmore. If so, they were probably 2nd cousins.
Naomi's age (my reflections):
The records indicate she was born sometime between 1767 and 1774. Naomi is the first daughter listed in her father's will. Though it is not clear that the children are listed by age, it might be. Lucretia and Hannah have good approximate birthdates (1773 and 1774), so they would be next in order. Naomi has often been listed as being born in the early 1780s, but I think that was because her presumed previous marriage to Andrew Phillips was not known. If Naomi was born in 1772, her mother would have been 15-17, young, but possible.
