Roy Jones Dead
Roy Jones, the 18-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. R. X. Jones who live four miles northeast of town died at 11 0'clock Sunday morning after three weeks' sickness with pneumonia and heart complications. He was a young man of unusual promise, and his death comes as a severe blow to his parents and to his large circle of friends in this community. The severeness of his sickness was not realized until it was too late to help
him. Besides his parents, he leaves two sisters and two brothers.
Roy attended the Happy Hill school, where he was in the eighth grade and about to graduate. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the M. E. church conducted by the pastor, Rev. D. A. McCullough, and the burial was made in the Spring Hill cemetery.

In Memory of Our Son and Brother
Roy Alvin Jones was born August 31, 1896, near Odell, Nebraska, where he lived till the age of 12 years, when he moved with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. R. X. Jones to Harrisonville, Missouri, where he resided one year; moving from there to Olathe, Kansas, where he lived till the time of his death, December 27, 1914, after an illness of three weeks, age 18 years, 3 months, and (unreadable) days. He leaves to mourn his loss, father, mother, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Golda Broyles of Mankato, Kansas, Blanche, Clarence and Jesse of Olathe, all of whom were at his bedside at the time of his death, except the sister at Mankato, who arrived the next day; also an uncle and two aunts of Nebraska, to attend the funeral, which was held at the Methodist Church at Spring Hill,
conducted by Reverend D. A. McCullough, the pastor. The remains were laid to rest in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Roy was a pupil of Happy Hills School and was expecting to graduate this year. he attended Sunday School at the Spring Hill Methodist Church and was loved by all who knew him.
