Petrus Mabie was also known as Pieter Mabie. He was baptized on 14. Nov. 1742 at Dutch Reformed Church, Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York; witnesses: Abrah. J. van Antwerpen and Anna P. Mebie. He was the son of
Pieter Mebi and
Susanna Vedder. Petrus Mabie served with his brothers, an unknown person , in Captain Andries Truax's Company of the Tryon County Militia on 29. Apr. 1767. He married
Alida Peek, daughter of
Harmanus Peek and
Sara De Graff, on 7. Nov. 1767 at Dutch Reformed Church, Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York. 1780 Petrus Mabie and
Harmanus Mabie , brothers, temporarily removed their families from their place at the junction of Schoharie Creek and the Mohawk River to the Woestina (the wilderness greater than five miles west of Schenectady) to avoid the incursions of the Indians. Will of Petrus Mebie, of the town of Caughnewaga, Tryon County, and residing in Schenectady, dated 12/28/1781, proved 7/17/1787(in Albany), mentions wife Alida, sons Harmanus (eldest) and Peter, daughters Susanna and Sarah, brother John and brother-in-law John H. Peek (executors). Petrus also mentioned the fact that his wife was pregnant at the time the will was written, and made alternate provisions if the unborn child was a male or a female. Petrus Mabie died b Apr. 1782. His estate was proved on 17. Jul. 1787 at Albany, Albany County, New York.
