John Phillips was born on 13. Nov. 1854 at Bristol, Ontario County, New York. He was the son of
Stillman Nash Phillips and
Sara Jane Calkins. John Phillips married
Eva Johnson, daughter of
Oliver Johnson and
Ann Nichols, on 28. Nov. 1877 at Honeoye, Ontario County, New York. John Phillips died on 2. Feb. 1938 at LeRoy, Genesee County, New York, at age 83. He was buried on 5. Feb. 1938 at Grandview Cemetery, Batavia, Genesee County, New York. John Phillips Le Roy, Feb. 2 John Phillips 88, of No. 18 South Street, died at his home at 3 o'clock this morning following a two weeks' illness. Death was due to infirmities of age.
Mr. Phillips was born on November 13, 1854, a son of the late Stillman and Sara Calkins Phillips. He married Miss Eva Johnson, who survives November 28, 1877. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Batavia.
Besides his wife, Mr. Phillips is survived by six sons, Earl of Batavia,McKinley of Brockport, John and Ernest of Pavilion, Louis of Wheaton, ILL., and Frank of Green Springs,O.,four daughters Mrs. Ralph Gates of Le Roy; Mrs. Dean Stevens of Oakfield, Mrs Fred Hodges of Honeoye Falls, and Mrs. Myron Flint of Pavilion; three brothers, Valentine of West Bethany, Henry of Bethany Center, and Stillman of Endwell, Broome County and two sisters, Mrs Lottie Masters and Mrs. George Simmons, both of Bristol Center, Ontario County; 41 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be held from the H. E. Turner and Company Mortuary, at Batavia,on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. A prayer services will be held at his late home at 1 o'clock Saturday with the Rev. Cecil Gagwin of Fowlerville and Rev. Archie Baker of South Alabama conducting the services. Interment will be in Grand View Cemetery,Batavia.
Funeral of John Phillips Funeral services for John Phillips were held from his late home, No. 18 South Street, Le Roy, at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon and at H.E. Turner & Company's Mortuary at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Cecil Gagwin of Fowlerville and the Rev. Archie Baker of South Alabama officiated. Burial was in Grand View Cemetery.
The bearers were Dean, Roy, William, Charles, Henry and Louis Phillips.
Among the floral tributes were pieces from the Table-Talk bakery, Endicott-Johnson Company at Endicott, South street neighbors, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Friendship Class of the South Alabama Church, Metropolitan office force and staff of Batavia and friends and relatives.
Relatives and friends were present from Endicott, Wheaton, ILL. Cleveland, Oakfield, Mt Morris, Bethany Center, East Bethany, Warsaw and Pavilion.
