Its possible from family stories, that Peter and Katie never divorced d ue to lack of money. Rosie M Smith died on 25. Dec. 1978 at Goshen, Orange County, New York, at age 81. She was buried on 28. Dec. 1978 at Hardyston Cemetery, Hamburg, sussex County, New Jersey. Buried in Hardyston Cemetery, Hamburg, NY According to Rosie, her mother was part Indian. Her daughter Stella and G randaughter Joan remembered her telling the stories. At this time, I ha ve found nothing official to verify. But as I remember Grandma Rosie, I ha ve no doubt there was indeed an Indian Connection. She was a member of Salvation Army, Middletown, NY, Independent Ord er of Reindeer no. 25, and ladies Auxilary of Empire Aerie no. 544 FOE, Mi ddletown, NY. Survivers include three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Elva) Kelder of Circlev ille, NY; Mrs. Ronald (Stella) Bennett of New Hampton, NY; and Mrs. Reev es (Clara) SeeleyJr. of Middletown, NY; two sons: Harold W. of Goshen, N Y, and Peter W. of Middletown, NY, a sister Rilla Crane of Suxxex, NJ; a nd a brother Gilbert Smith of Franklin, NJ, also 18 granchildren, 31 gre at grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Services were held on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Ralston-Lippincott Funer al Home, 72 W. Main St, Middletown, NY. Burial was in Hardyston Cemeter y, Hamburg, NJ.

Samantha E. Townsend, 71, Passes Away Rather Suddenly

Mrs. Samantha E. Townsend, wife of Joshua Townsend died rather suddenly at 5:30 'clock Monday morning at her residence 401 Euclid Avenue. She was aged 71 years, 9 months, and 13 days. Though in poor health for some time, Mrs. Townsend's death is a sudden and severe shock to her many friends. Her sad demise came just a little more than a week following the death of her older sister, Mrs. Sarah North who passed away last Saturday a week ago.

The deceased is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Frank Lytle of Arcanum, Miss Hazel Townsend of New York City and three sisters Mrs. Coleman Smith and Ruth Lecklider of Greenville and Julia Bolten of Winona Lake, Indiana.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. C. W. Hoeffer at Woodington Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in the Greenville Cemetery. Samantha Eunice Smith died on 18. Nov. 1923 at Greenville, Darke County, Ohio, at age 71.
