Obituary of Galen Stoner==Galen Harold Stoner was born Dec. 19, 1909 on a farm near Richfield, Morton Co., Kansas to Henry Stoner and Linda McCammon Stoner and left this mortal life early Saturday morning Jan. 20, 1979 in Parker, AZ at the age of 69 years. Galen was the oldest of four children. One brother, Glen Stoner of Show Low, AZ and two sisters, Mildred Cook and Mabel Coulter of Fort Collins, survive him. Emma Fanny Milburn and Galen were married Aug. 28, 1926, in Bethel, Kansas, and to them were born five children. Emma and four children survive Galen. The first child, Revah Beryl, died at birth. Maxine Kindred of Bethune, Carolyn Tryon of Fort Collins, Claudine Messenger of Colorado Springs and Ronald Stoner of Grand Junction all survive their father. One grandchild, Everett Kindred, preceded Galen into immortality and there are 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren surviving him. Galen and Emma resided first in Rolla, Kansas and then moved into the vicinity of Stratton; first 26 miles south and then 7 miles north and finally in Stratton, for a total of 26 years. They moved to Fruita and then to Grand Junction. They had spent the last four winters in the Parker area and enjoyed many friends and acquaintances wherever they lived. The body laid in state at Parker on Sunday, Jan. 21. Funeral services for Galen were held Monday, Jan. 25, at the Stratton United Methodist Church at 1:30 PM. Rev. George Dageenakis officated and was assisted by Galen's son-in-law, Clifford Messenger. Galen and Emma have long been members of the United Methodist Church, joining the church first in Stratton, then in Grand Junction and presently in Parker. Galen had a gentle soul and a steady hand, always willing to give of his time and himself to help others. Interment was in the Claremont Cemetery in Stratton, Colorado. He was buried on 25. Jan. 1979 at Calremont Cemetery, Stratton, Kit Carson County, Colorado.
