NEW PARIS--Friends of Eldon L. Stump may call from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home in Goshen, where the service will be at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Baintertown Cemetery.
Mr. Stump, 69, of 18819 C.R. 142, died at 2:45 p.m. Friday (Aug. 11, 2000) at home, where he'd lived for 46 years. He had been ill for 1 1/2 years. He was born in Kosciusko County on Sept. 15, 1930 to Virgil O. and Dottie (Brumbaugh) Stump. He married Margaret Vail Aug. 20, 1949, in New Paris. She survives along with two daughters, Kathryn Charlton of Milford and Mrs. Mark (Nancy) Westrich of New Paris; a son, Michael J. Stump of Millersburg; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Virgil O. Stump Jr. of Nappanee; and three sisters, Laural Defreese of Nappanee, Mrs. Merle (Phyllis) Croy of Wakarusa and Mrs. Arnold (Frances) Dallmann of Isle of Capri, Fla. One daughter, Ann Elizabeth Stump, is deceased, as are a sister, Louise Losee, and a brother, Robert Stump. Mr. Stump was a 1948 graduate of New Paris High School and was self-employed as a truck driver. He was a member of the First Brethren Church of New Paris. Memorial gifts may be made to Elkhart Community Hospice or First Brethren Church of New Paris.
