Dr. Abraham Ten Broeck Van Doren was born on 15. Jun. 1823. He was the son of Abraham Christian Van Doren and Mary Williamson. Dr. Abraham Ten Broeck Van Doren married Joanna Morehead, daughter of John Morehead and Sophia 2107 Van Doren, at Neshanic, Somerset County, New Jersey. Dr. Abraham Ten Broeck Van Doren died on 30. Jun. 1853 at Ringoes, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, at age 30; he died of consumption. Dr. Van Doren was prepared for college by Rev. William Thompson, brother of Judge Joseph Thompson. at his school in New Brunswick., or possibly at Millstone; graduated at Rutgers in 1840; and attended lectures at the New York University. He also read medicine for some time with Dr. Van Deusen of New Brunswick, and attended the clinics of Dr. Valentine Mott in one or more hospitals in New York. He commenced the practice of medicine at Neshanic where he was married. About 1848 he removed to Ringoes where he acquired a large practice. He had a fine, scolarly face, was very gentle, of kindly manners, and possessed a soft voice, with an eye that was full of tenterness; just the sort of man for a doctor.
