In 1920's owned grocery store in Lexington, KY. Business was mostly credit. Principal customer was a Catholic boarding school & church. Paid on the barrel head. The KKK expanded to Lexington, KY and had a big rally outside Lexington. Two or three days after, the Monsignor asked him to bring over the bill for the month and paid him off. The Catholics attended the rally and took down license plates and reported all who attended. As a result of his attendance at this rally the Catholics cancelled their business and he went bankrupt. Addis Volney Wheat Sr. died on 24. Mar. 1929 at Santa Rosa, Guadalupe County, New Mexico, at age 50. He was buried on 28. Mar. 1929 at Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky.
