Stephen Samuel Whitesides was born on 19. Oct. 1843 at Indiana. He was the son of
John Whitesides and
Sarah Tilson. Stephen Samuel Whitesides married
Mary A. Conover, daughter of
Nelson Schanck Conover and
Nancy Armstrong, on 5. Jan. 1871 at Shelby County, Indiana. Stephen Samuel Whitesides was the owner of a steam laundry, Whiteside and Lane at Franklin, Indiana. He died on 20. Jan. 1908 at Franklin, Indiana, at age 64.
S. S. WHITESIDES, senior member of the firm of Whitesides & Lane, proprietors of the Franklin, Ind., steam laundry, was born in Johnson County, Ind., on October 19, 1843, and is the son of John and Sallie
(Tilson) Whitesides. The father was born in Kentucky (See Nort Whitesides' sketch). The mother was born in Virginia, and died in 1850. Our subject was reared on the farm, and secured a limited education in the public schools. He has followed farming and stock-trading, and located in Franklin in October, 1886. He engaged in his present business in February, 1887. He was married in January, 1872, to Mary Conover, who was born in Shelby County, Ind., in 1850, and is the daughter of Nelson Conover. To this union two children have been born, one of whom is deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Whitesides are members of the Baptist Church.
