Our subject was reared on the farm, and secured a limited education in the public schools. He has followed farming and stock-trading, and located in Franklin in October, 1886. He engaged in his present business in February, 1887. He was married in January, 1872, to Mary Conover, who was born in Shelby County, Ind., in 1850, and is the daughter of Nelson Conover. To this union two children have been born, one of whom is deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Whitesides are members of the Baptist Church.
