There was a burial ay Long Creek Cemetery, near Mesquite, Saturday afternoon, a man who was actively connected with early history of Mesquite, reference being had to I. D. Brower, aged 75, who died at Wichita Falls Friday, Dec 13.
Mr. Browder was born in Dallas and Brower street, a well known thoroughfare was named after his father. He was one of the early merchants of Mesquite and was postmaster here. He moved away from Mesquite in 1890, first going to Gordon and in 1890, first going to Gordon and in 1908 he moved to Wichtia Falls, where he continued to reside until his death. Mr. Browder was engaged in the lumber, furniture and undertaking business.
Mr. Browder was a charter member of the Mesquite Baptist church and it was there that his funeral was held, at 3:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. H. Wynn of the Forrest Avenue Baptist church of Dallas an old friend.
He had been a Mason for fifty-four years and the local Masonic Lodge had charge of the funeral.
Mr. Browder is survived by four children; Earl Browder of Dallas, Boyd Browder of Ardmore, Okla., Mrs. Gussie Chapman of Mesquite and Mrs. Hattie Gildhouse of Wichita Falls. He was buried at Long Creek Cemetery, Sunnyvale, Dallas County, Texas.

He was born Dec. 27, 1925, at Avant, Okla., the son of Troy and Velma Coast Brower. A longtime Lyons resident, formerly of Enid, Okla., and Carlsbad, N.M., he retired as maintenance supervisor at Conoco after 39 years.
He attended First Christian Church. He belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Liars Fishing Club, all at Lyons.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
On Dec. 20, 1943, he married Nina Speer at Bartlesville, Okla. She died Jan. 17, 1978. On Sept. 2, 1978, he married Bobbie Sue Scott Brayton at Lyons. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Patti Voth, Enid, Okla; three stepsons, Larry Brayton, Tecumseh, Daniel Brayton, Enid, Okla., and Richard Brayton, Lyons; a brother, Danny, Kiowa; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Leon and Bob; and two sisters, Ima Jean Brower and an infant.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Lyons, with the Rev. Tom Eastman presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Lyons Municipal Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Memorials may be sent to Camp Wa Ja To or Hospice House of Reno County, both in care of the funeral home.
