Hughart, Mrs. Nellie McQuiston, Mrs. Ella McQuiston, all of this city, and Mrs. Elnora Parriott, of Norfolk, Neb. The last mentioned arrived here a short time before her mother's death. Mrs. Hughart was loved by all who knew her. She was a good neighbor and a kind and loving wife and mother. The funeral will be held from the home of her daughter, 609 East Elm street, Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. On 3. Nov. 1908. She was buried on 4. Nov. 1908 at Kimball Cemetery, Liberty Twp., Porter County, Indiana.

GEORGE W. BULL. Many of the ablest men in America are ardent devotees of the great basic industry of agriculture, and it is well that this is so because the various learned professions are rapidly becoming so crowded with inefficient practitioners that in a few years it will be practically impossible for any but the exceptionally talented man to make good or even to make a competent living therein. The independent farmer who, in addition to tilling the soil, cultivates his mind and retains his health, is a man much to be envied in these days of strenuous bustle and nervous energy. He lives his life as he chooses and is always safe from financial ravages and other troubles of the so-called 'cliff-dweller.' An able and representative agriculturist who has done much to advance progress and conserve prosperity in Porter county, Indiana, is George W. Bull, who owns and operates the Moss Lake dairy farm in Liberty township. A native of Liberty township, Porter county, Indiana, George W. Bull was born July 12, 1856, and he is a son of Theodore and Anna M. (Keeler) Bull, the former of whom was born in Onondaga county, New York, and the latter of whom was born in Sandusky county, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Bull came with their respective parents to Porter county, Indiana, as children, and here grew up and were married. In 1858 they located on a farm in section 36, Liberty township, where they continued to reside during the remainder of their lives. He died in 1891 and she passed to the life eternal in 1904. They were the parents of five boys and three girls, five whom are living, in 1912, namely: George W., whose name forms the caption for this review; Miles 0., who is married and resides on a farm in Kansas; Charles A., a resident of Washington township, Porter county; Olive, who is the wife of Charles A. Campbell, of Valparaiso; and Mary, who is the wife of William Sclimell, of Liberty township. Theodore Bull and his wife were devout members of the Christian church, and in his political allegiance he was a stalwart supporter of the principles and policies for which the Republican party stands sponsor. He was deeply and sincerely interested in community affairs and ever gave freely of his aid and influence to support such measures and enterprises as were calculated to benefit humanity. George W. Bull grew up on the old homestead farm, in the work and management of which he early began to assist his father. He attended the district schools during the winter terms and during the summer seasons worked upon the farm. From his eighteenth to his twenty-seventh year he worked for his father for wages and after his marriage, in 1883, he began to farm on his own account, locating on his present beautiful estate just across the road from the parental homestead. Mr. Bull's place is known as the Moss Lake Farm and he makes a specialty of stock-raising and dairy work. The Farm consists of eighty acres and is recognized as one of the finest little estates in the county. In politics he is an independent. In November, 1883, was solemnized the marriage of Mr. Bull to Miss Elma E. Skinner, who was born in Porter county, Indiana, in 1861, and who is a daughter of Stephen L. Skinner, of Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Bull have eight children, whose names are here entered in repective order of birth: John C. was graduated in the district schools an is farming on his own account in Liberty township, this county; Ollie is the wife of Edward Esserman, of Liberty township; Clara is the wife of Truman Lenberg and they reside at La Porte; Ruth, Mabel, and Edith all were graduated in the common schools and reside at hom, as do also Bertha and Ethel. The latter is a student in the high school at Valparaiso.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Mabel) Brown and Mrs. Fred (Edith) Wohlenberg, both of Valparaiso, and Mrs. John (Ruth) Wohlenberg of Chicago. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Olive Esserman, Mrs. Clara Lenburg, Mrs. Ethel Ruge and Mrs. Bertha Wilkins. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Bartholomew Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Porter officiating. Burial will be in Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. He was buried on 6. May. 1974 at Kimball Cemetery, Liberty Twp., Porter County, Indiana; John C. Bull's funeral took place at 1:00 pm on May 6, 1974, at Bartholomew Funeral Home in Valparaiso, Porter Co., Indiana. The Reverend Paul Porter officiated the funeral service. The following obituary for Lydia Ophelia (Bull) Hughart Crook was published September 30, 1930, in The Vidette-Messenger, Valparaiso, Porter Co., Indiana (pages 1 and 3): RESIDENT OF COUNTY FOR 80 YEARS, IS DEAD Mrs. Lydia Crook, Age 94 Years, Succumbs to Long Illness at Liberty Township Home. Mrs. Lydia Ophelia Crook, age 94 years, and for eighty years a resident of Porter county, died Monday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of her grandson Arthur Hanrahan, near Wahob lake, in Liberty township. She had been in failing health for the last eleven years, and for the last four weeks had been bedfast. The decedent was born in Onondaga county, New York, on March 16, 1836, a daughter of Colonel John C. and Catharine (Halbrook) Bull. When only fourteen years of age she came with her parents to Porter county, the trip being made via boat on Lakes Erie and Michigan, and by oxen team from Michigan City. When Mrs. Crook came to Porter county, the family settled on the farm where she died. That section then was a vast timber tract, and Indians were still roaming about. Mrs. Crook endured all the hardships connected with the early pioneer life. On August 16, 1856, she was united in marriage to Arthur A. Hughart, who died in the early seventies. To this union were born a daughter, Mrs. Melnie [Melna] Hanrahan, who survives her mother, and one son, John H. Hughart, who died at age fourteen. On November 21, 1876, she was married to Hiram Crook, who died twenty-one years ago. Since his death she has resided with her grandson, Arthur Hanrahan, and his family. She was the youngest of a family of twelve children all of whom preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Arthur Hanrahan home, conducted by Rev. Carl G. Steward, of the Baptist church. Burial will be in Kimball cemetery. She was buried on 1. Oct. 1930 at Kimball Cemetery, Liberty Twp., Porter County, Indiana.

BULL DIES Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Old Resident Miles Oscar Bull, 82, died in his home two miles west of Columbus at 1:30 Friday afternoon, July 30, following a long illness. Funeral services were held at 10:00 Tuesday morning at the Catlett Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Clyde Lindsley of teh Christian Church. Pall bearers were: Will Ruggles, Lloyd Spriggs, Charles Hanks, Harve Cox, Richard Card, Sr., and Wilson Harrison. Mr. Bull was born near Valparaiso, Ind., on October 27, 1860, the fourth son of Theodore and Ann Bull. On October 31, 1883, he was married to Rebecca Skinner and to this union were born five sons and two daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Bull with their family, moved to their present home in 1904. OBITUARY Grandpa Bullwas a very devoted Christian and attended church regularly at the Sherwin Christian Church of which he was a member, as long as he was physically able. He was a great lover of flowers, taking great pride in keeping the lawn beautiful around his home. He was very kind and thoughtful of his family, never speaking a cross word to his grandchildren. Much of his time was spent in planning and making small toys and trinkets in his workshop for the joy of his grandchildren. Mr. Bull is survived by his wife, five sons: Roland of rural Columbus, Charlie of Hoffman, N.Y., Carroll, of Harvey, Ill., Clinton of Columbus and Harry of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Anna Mae Roach of Melrose. One daughter, Carrie, preceded him in death in 1903. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Campbell and Mrs. Maitie Schmell of Valparaiso, Ind; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
