Chamberlin married Grace Emogene Macomber, daughter of William Harman Macomber and Harriet Frances Sayles, on 25. Sep. 1889 at Panora, Guthrie County, Iowa. Oscar W. Chamberlin died on 2. Feb. 1904 at Guthrie County, Iowa, at age 45. His father died in December of 1860, shortly before his 2nd birthday. He lived with his mother until she married Samuel Tibbals in 1867. He moved to Lee Co., Illinois in 1868 to live with an uncle, John D. Lahman, until about 1877. During the years of 1880-1884 Valparaiso (Indiana) University archives show that he was a student in their Preparatory Dept. He returned to Guthrie Co., Iowa, in 1881 and bought Maple Lawn Stock Farm. There he farmed and taught school inthe winter. In 1889 he married Grace Macomber and they had soon had three children. John in 1890, Hazel in 1891, and Naomi in 1893. Ten years later Harriett was born in 1903. In early 1904, Oscar died before his time from a blood infection called erysipelas. He is buried in the Brethren Cemetry north of Panora, Iowa.
