John Colborn was also known as John Colburn. John Colborn was born in 1741 at Sussex County, New Jersey. He was the son of
Michael Colborn and
Sarah Mitchell. John Colborn married
Sarah Hoagland, daughter of
Christopher Hoagland and
Catalyntie Schenck. John Colborn left a will on 22. Oct. 1811 at Cayuga County, New York.
I, John Colborn of the town of Genoa in the County of Cayuga and State of New York, Being in a Low State of Health and Verry Weak but in my usual Recollection and Memory do ordain constitute and make this my last will and testament and desire my effects to be disposed of after my Diseas as herein after stated, as it is appointed for all once to Die and Sensible of my approaching Disolution do first of all give and bequeath and recommend my Soul to Almighty God and my Body I request to be decently intered in the burying ground adjoining the Methodist Metinghouee in Genoa, the funeral charges to be
paid out of my estate. I do farther order that my loveing Wife Sarah shall live on my premises and in my house during her natural life if she shall choose so to do and have the use of one cow, six sheep, one hog, two beds and furniture and other house hold furniture that she shall stand in need of for her own conveniency. I give my wearing apparel to be equally divided between my two sons, Jonathan and Robert Colborn. I order that my movable property to be sold after the aforesaid Bequests are taken out and my debts if any to be paid thereby and the overplus if any to be let out on interest giving the heirs the pefference if their choice to have it and the use thereof to be applyd to the support of my Widow and I do farther order that at the deceas of my Widow that my land and all other property be sold and divided among my children in the following manner. I order that my whole estate be divided into eleven parts and my Son Jonathan or his heirs to have two parts and the other nine parts be equally divided amongst my other nine children viz. Lidia, Hannah, Polly, Sarah, Nancy, Robert, Betsey, Ruth and Jemima or their heirs and for the purpose of distributeing and disposeing of my said estate I do ordain constitute and appoint My Son Jonathan and My Son in Law Thomas Hamilton my Executors to this my last will and Testament. our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and Eleven.
