Mrs. Mary E. Bailey, 77, was found lying dead across the bed at her home near Ozark, at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon by her son, Elbert Bailey, who lived nearby. It was thought that she had suffered a stroke of paralysis for she was apparently as well as usual when Mr. Bailey stopped at her residence earlier in the day. She was the widow of Mr. Sidney Bailey, well-known citizen of Adair County, who died two years ago. Mrs. William Overstreet, a daughter, and Mr. Overstreet, who were making their home with Mrs. Bailey, also stated that she was apparently feeling very well when they left for Columbia early in the morning. Mrs. Bailey was one of the most beloved and respected citizens of the Ozark community and her sudden death was a shock to the family and friends. She was an active member of the Methodist Church. She was born and reared in Adair County and before her marriage on October 13, 1881, was Miss Mary E. Conover, daughter of the late Thomas J. and Susana Bryant Conover, prominent citizens of the Ozark section.

Bailey, Albert Bailey and Elbert Bailey, all of whom live in Adair; two brothers, William and Forrest Conover, and the following sisters: Mrs. Rosalee Haynes, of Russell County; Mrs. Georgia Redmon, Mrs. Ursla Roy.
