He died on 22. Sep. 1900 at Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey, at age 72. Peter H. Conover of Freehold, a retired farmer, died very suddenly on Saturday. Mr. Conover was 72 years old and death was caused by a heart disease. Mr. Conover was a son of Hendrick P. Conover, and was a descendent of the original Covenhoven family, which settled in this county from Holland over 200 years ago. He owned a fine farm at Tennent, and was progressive in his ideas and methods. He was well-to-do and about a year and a half ago he gave up farming and moved to Freehold. His wife is still living and an unmarried daughter, Miss Eleanor B. Conover, lived at home. A son, G. Howard Conover lives on the homestead farm at Tennent. The other children of Mr. Conover are Mrs. N. J. Wilson of Red Bank, and Hendrick P. Conover of Holmdel. Another son, William H. C. Conover , died at Seattle, Washington, about two years ago. Mr. Conover was a strong Republican in politics and had held various township offices in Manalapan township. He was a man of sterling integrity and was very highly esteemed by this neighbors and official associates. On the day of his death Mr. Conover was apparently in his usual health. He walked from his house down town to the business part of Freehold and on walking back to his house he complained of feeling tired. He sat down in a chair on the porch and died almost immediately. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon and the burial was in old Tennent graveyard. The bearers were John W. Craig, Ephraim Laird, J. VanNess Bubois and William H. Reid of Tennent , and James Magee and Henry J. Mount of Freehold.
