Earl W. Crownover, 82, of Ligonier, died Wednesday morning, July 7, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Petersburg, Pa., a son of the late Roy and Freida Morningstar Crownover. Prior to retirement in 1983, he had been employed by Latrobe Steel for more than 26 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Waterford Christian Church. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Karen) Matson, of Bolivar; two sons, Roy D. Crownover, of Ligonier, and Craig B. (and his wife, Kathleen) Crownover, of Stahlstown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Seidel, of Mercer, Pa., and Sylvia Lynn, of Fairless Hills, Pa; and a brother, Wayne Crownover, of Mountain Home, Ark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hopkins Crownover, in 1998; a son, Dennis Crownover, in 1996; and a sister, Melvenia Brackbill. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, where services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. with Pastor J. Paul McCracken officiating. Interment will follow in Entriken Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Waterford Christian Church.
