Obituary Fort Scott Tribune August 27, 1946 'Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Alzina Luke, 90, who died yesterday morning at the Young Nursing Home at 109 Broadway will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Cheney Memorial chapel. The Rev. Wilbert Dunlap of the Christian church will officiate and interment will be made in Oak Grove cemetery. Alice Alzina Dole was born in Illinois on February 28, 1856. She first married to James Halstead in October, 1872. To this union was born a son and a daughter, both of whom are deceased. Her next marriage was to Lyman Luke, a civil war veteran in 1914. No children were born to this union. Surviving are seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Luke was a member of the Christian church, being one of the oldest if not the oldest in point of membership. She was a charter member of the church when it was located at Third and Margrave. A resident of this vicinity for 75 years, she came to this county with her parents in a covered wagon, driving their cows and livestock. She was an active church member as long as her health permitted. The body is at the Cheney parlor chapel. Five of the grandchildren are Harry Daw of this city, Mrs Roy Williams, Fort Scott, rural route, James Halstead of Iola, and Mrs. Christian Herman of St. Louis. She was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Scott, Bourbon County, Kansas.
