FAULK COUNTY PIONEER PASSES
Eliza Maria DuBois was born at Ithica [sic], N.Y., July 19, 1848, and died at Faulkton, S.D., Dec. 2, 1932 at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 13 days. At the age of 10 years she moved with her parents to Waterloo, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Franklin Spencer, Nov. 2, 1865. To this union four daughters were born; Mrs. Jennie Escott, who preceded her in death in 1930, Mrs. I. M. Alden, of Faith, and Mrs. George Coleman and Mrs. Josephine Brewer of Faulkton. In 1871, the deceased with her husband immigrated to Kansas, where they lived until 1884, when they
came to Faulk County where she resided until the time of her death. Mrs. Spencer was a member of the Rebekah lodge and the Woman's Relief Corps, and while her health permitted always took an active
interest in them. She took a great interest in the political affairs of the day, always casting her vote, although confined to her bed for over seven years.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Rev. H. W. Bunton officiating assisted by Rev. J. J. Pruitt of the Congregational Church. Interment was in the family lot in the Faulkton cemetery.
Relatives from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Alden, Mrs. Wm Escott and daughter of Faith, Mr. and Mrs. James Coleman, Theo. Coleman and J. Coleman all of Onaka.
