ESHBAUGH, Mark E. Age 87 of Miamisburg, formerly of Kettering, passed away Friday, September 15, 2006 in Hospice at the VA Medical Center. He was a retired Vice President of Gem Savings after 34 years of service. Preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Winifred Alice Eshbaugh, and parents Mark & Lois (Schenck) Eshbaugh, and sister Lois Eleanor Whitesell. Survived by Jeanette Kruer Eshbaugh, Miamisburg; brother Kenneth L. Eshbaugh and wife Betty, St. Louis, MO; daughter Sandra Jane Gaines and husband William, Georgetown, KY; son Dr. Dennis Mark Eshbaugh and wife Susan, Columbus; grandchildren Gregory Gaines and wife Judi, Kettering; Whitney Taverna and husband Frank, Beavercreek; Fletcher Eshbaugh, New York City; Bridget Eshbaugh, Columbus; and 3 great grandchildren Rachel & Laura Gaines and Sofia Taverna. Also survived by many nieces & nephews and the Schenck Cousins life time friends and met once a month for lunch at the MCL. Mark grew up in Ellerton, a small town outside Miamisburg. As a teenager Mark enjoyed many a hamburger from the Hamburger Wagon, and sipping soda at the ice cream store across the street from the Theater. His greatest joy was touring around town in his $7.00 model T Ford. He was a past member of the Ellerton Lutheran Church, North Riverdale Lutheran Church, Christ Methodist Church and active member of the Fairmont Presbyterian Church. A graduate of Jefferson High School, attended University of Dayton (8 years of night school), and a Graduate of the New York University School of Business. He was a Tech Sergeant in World War II, 1143 Combat Engineer Group, Head Quarters and Special Services. He was active with the Kettering Suburban Senior Citizens and Fellowship Club, and the Optimist International. After retirement, Mark enjoyed travel, antiquing, woodworking and refinished many items for the Methodist Church Bazaar. Most of all, he enjoyed spending an evening with friends for a hand of bridge or a round of golf, and bowling with his buddies. He was loved by his family, neighbors and his extended family Jeanette's sons George Kruer of Jacksonville, FL; Duane Kruer and wife Carey of Miamisburg, daughter Carol Greve and husband Paul of Folly Beach, SC, and grandchildren William & Robyn Kruer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11: 00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Fairmont Presbyterian Church, 3705 Far Hills Ave., Kettering, OH. Dr. Robert Wade, Pastor David Bickett and Pastor Molly Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday in the parlor at the church. A reception will follow immediately after the funeral service and procession will leave the church at 1:15 p.m. for burial at the Ellerton Cemetery. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at the VA Medical Center. VFW Post #3438 will conduct Military Graveside Rites.
