Mary Elizabeth Faries was born on 29. Jul. 1845 at Middletown, Butler County, Ohio. She was the daughter of
James C. Faries and
Mary J. Conover. Mary Elizabeth Faries married
Enos Thayer, son of
Ichabod Thayer and
Lydia Macy, on 1. Apr. 1866 at near, Wabash, Wabash County, Indiana. Mary Elizabeth Faries died on 12. Sep. 1908 at Storm Lake, Buena Vista County, Iowa, at age 63. Mrs. Enos Thayer died at her home in the city on Saturday evening after serval weeks illness, the cause of her death being Kidney trouble. For some time it was known that she could not survive therefore her death was not so much of a shock to her family and friends.
Mary Elizabeth Faris was born July 29,1845, at Middletown Ohio She was united in marriage to Enos Thayer on April 1,1866, near Wabash , Ind. in the fall of the same years they moved to Maroa, Ill where they continued to make their home for sixteen years and in 1882, the family moved to Storm Lake where they have since resided. Two daughter and three sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Thayer, all of whom reside in this county. They are Harry E., Bert R., and Arthur and Miss Claudia B. And Mrs. Ollie Crouse. she also Leaves two brothers, Robert Farris of Decatur ILL. and Timohty Faris Of Indianapolis, Ind. and one sister Mrs. Carrie Jones of Chicago, IL to mourn.
The funeral service were held at the home on Monday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev.W.J. Carr, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, and the interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Christian Church , early in life professing that faith. Mrs. Thayer has during her long residence in this city won many friends who are sorrowing over Her death. She was a good mother and devoted wife and no better eulogy could be written of any one. Mrs. Thayer was at a great disadvantage in her association with others on account of the fact that for years, in fact ever since shortly after her marriage, she has been quite hard of hearing and during the past few years she has been growing much worse.
