Abel Fike was also known as Abraham Fike. Abel Fike was born on 15. Apr. 1777 at Granville County, North Carolina. He was the son of
Nathan Buford Fike and
Susannah Fooshe. Abel Fike married
Rachel Crownover, daughter of
Benjamin Crownover and
Rachel Jasper, in 1805 at Pendleton District, South Carolina. Abel Fike married
Nancy Land, daughter of
Moses Land and
Charity Beshears, on 2. Dec. 1815 at Saint Clair County, Illinois. Abel Fike and
Nancy Land resided at at farm one half mile south of Rentchler's station on the Southeastern Railroad. Abel Fike and
Nancy Land resided at at Looking Glass Prarie 3 miles northeast of, Mascoutah, Saint Clair County, Illinois, in Dec. 1836. Abel Fike left a will on 22. Sep. 1847 at Saint Clair County, Illinois.
I Abel Fike of this County of St. Clair and State of Illinois do make and publish this my last will and testament in a manner and form following that is to say:
First, it is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid.
Second, I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy Fike in lieu of her dower the plantation on which we now reside during her natural life, and all the livestock horses cattle sheep hogs TC by me now owned and kept thereon. Also all the household furniture and other items not particularly named and otherwise disposed of in this will all bonds and notes for cash also forty five acres lying on the east side of the North East quarter of section one town one South Seven West, and that at the death of my wife all of the real Estate bequeathed to her to then belong to my son Henry and all my personal property to be divided amongst my daughters as my wife may be disposed to divided and heirs of my daughter Narcissa deceased and what may be left at my said wifes death that is of the personal estate to be divided among my daughters and daughters heirs. Also give to my son Moses 26 acres lying on the south part of the North East quarter Section one Town One South Seven West. I also give and bequeath to my son Ausby Forty Acres of the North East of the South West Quarter Section Twenty One Town one North Range Six W. Also to my son John J. Fike forty acres of the South East of the North East Quarter of Section Twenty Two Town one North Range Six West. In Testimony where of I have hereto set my hand and seal this 22nd day of Sept 1847.
